What to Include in a Product Brief Before Requesting a Quote
Seven practical details that help manufacturers assess feasibility, calculate pricing and prepare samples more efficiently.

What to Include in a Product Brief Before Requesting a Quote
A clear product brief helps both buyers and manufacturers make faster, more accurate decisions. It does not need to be a perfect technical document, but it should explain what must remain fixed and where customization is possible.
1. Product type and intended user
State whether the product is for infants, toddlers, older children, cats, dogs or another user group. Include the intended use environment and target market.
2. Reference images or drawings
Provide sketches, CAD files, existing samples or reference products. Mark the features you want to keep and the areas you want to change.
3. Target dimensions and functions
List important dimensions, weight limits, adjustment ranges, folding requirements and functional priorities. If a value is still undecided, identify it as open for engineering review.
4. Preferred materials and colors
Share material preferences, surface finishes, color references and any required texture or pattern. Pantone references are useful when color matching matters.
5. Target quantity
Provide an estimated order quantity and expected color split. This helps determine manufacturing methods, packaging assumptions and quotation structure.
6. Packaging requirements
Explain whether you need neutral packaging, custom artwork, retail packaging, instruction manuals, labels or barcode placement.
7. Target market and compliance requirements
Identify the destination countries and any testing or documentation requirements that apply to your market. Requirements should be confirmed before product specifications are finalized.
A stronger brief reduces repeated questions and helps the sampling process start with better alignment. If some details are not yet available, our development team can review the concept and identify the decisions needed before quotation.Send Your Product Brief
